In Support of The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Team Alpha is “tickled pink” to announce their charity team member:  the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. (http://www.cbcf.org)

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading national volunteer-based organization in Canada dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer.  The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundations investments are made with a strategic focus on the impact on the lives of those most affected by breast cancer, including improving women’s quality of life and increasing knowledge about breast cancer risk reduction and treatment.

Team Alpha chose the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation because almost all of their members had been touched by either the foundation or breast cancer in some way.  Team Alpha looks forward to raising a significant contribution in support of the CBCF’s battle against breast cancer.

Why did you choose to join a Mastermind group?
I joined the mastermind group because the concept of helping others while helping myself seemed very interesting.  Brainstorming new ideas and other concepts was very appealing.

What advantages does being a part of a Mastermind group offer you?
Mastermind groups allow participants to explore ideas with a test group before hitting the public.  Additionally, more minds are available to push ideas in directions never thought of before.  The social element is good too.  New friends and good/new ideas.

Do you think your team can turn $500 into $1,000,000 by July 1st 2011?
Our team can definitely turn the $500 into a million because our group is dedicated and dynamic – we were the first Mastermind group, and we will be first to a million.

What gives your group an advantage over others?
That would be giving away our secrets. :P

What is most exciting about being a part of the first ever Race to a Million?
I’m excited to see the social element.  I’m curious to see how many people are interested in following the progress.

We desires to be the premium service provider in all areas.

Why did you choose to join a Mastermind group?
To learn from the other members of the group and embrace other points of view on professional and personal excellence.

What advantages does being a part of a Mastermind group offer you?
Most people only have 1 or 2 true mentors in their lives. A Mastermind group provides you with 10, all at the same time. The regular meetings give you accountability for following through on your commitments to yourself, and the confidentiality lets you speak freely about some of the loneliest problems that an entrepreneur or manager faces. Multiple people working on a single idea at a time enhances your decision making ability exponentially. Helping your fellow group members also gives you a chance to pay it forward and keep the karma bank in the positive.

Do you think your team can turn $500 into $1,000,000 by July 1st 2011?
I believe our team can turn $500 into a hell of a lot of fun and learning over that period. If anybody can make a million bucks at the same time, Alpha can.

What gives your group an advantage over others?
We’ve got mojo! We’ve been Masterminding since before it was cool. We also have a great variety of perspectives and experience levels, which lets us attack problems from all angles and embrace solutions that others might be too set in their ways to choose.

What is most exciting about being a part of the first ever Race to a Million?
The buzz and excitement building around the event! I’m a bit nervous about showing up on camera, but I’m ready to face the Internet with a smile and a dumb hat. We’re doing something new that has never been done before, and we’re all helping to build it from the ground up. The most exciting thing to me is thinking of the stories I’m going to get to tell after this is done.

Anything else you’d like to tell everyone?
I’m not in this for the money. Everybody grows up thinking they’re going to be rich, and very few of us really make it. The ones that do succeed are able to do it by developing an attitude and perspective that shows them the opportunities that surround us to create value and improve their own abilities. I don’t see this as a reality show, I see this as a yearlong boot camp honing our talents and opening our eyes. I’m in this for the learning. We’re also TOTALLY going to win this.

Like many others I want to be a successful entrepreneur.  As Sir Richard Branson mentioned we all learn from and build on what others accomplish-An entrepreneur does not succeed alone.

What advantages does being a part of a Mastermind group offer you?
Accountability, Sense of security in terms of taking risks. Trust between the members. Collective power of successful individuals / businesses.

Do you think your team can turn $500 into $1,000,000 by July 1st 2011?
I think we will make it. I am in the race to a million not for the money, of course I need some extra money but my primary motivation is the sheer volume of ideas we will explore and learn from what worked and what didn’t work. It’s lot of fun to experiment to win or lose!!

What gives your group an advantage over others?
Our collective power of experiences from various backgrounds. We have an “idea box” in our team that brings in new idea every day. We have highly qualified technical individuals with multiple talents and professional sales people.

Mystery Merchant Maven

Seen here looking for her keys in her purse, this mysterious lady is one of Alpha’s secret weapons. While we can’t tell you too much about her yet we can say that she brings a tremendous amount of business experience and acumen to Team Alpha … and … doesn’t that purse look great!

Tania Vidovic
(Age: rated M for Mature)

About Tania
Tania enjoys card making, cooking, reading, collecting dictionaries, organizing parent advisory council (PAC/DPAC) events., and squirrel imitations. Tania is one of the oldest members of the team, however, she thinks the team is full of bright “young minds” and is glad to be the mother hen looking after all of her “alpha-lings” with her wisdom, guidance and banana bread. In one word Tania describes herself as an anti-linear-thinking-unapologetic-1980′s-loving-she-geek … did we tell you she likes collecting dictionaries?

For over ten years Tania has committed herself to the tireless, but all too needed, work of supporting schools and being a voice for parents within the education system through DPAC and several school PACS (Parent Advisory Councils).

Tania is excited to be part of this team and wanted her picture to be a gold fish cracker … not because she’s crackers but rather… because she never thought swimming with sharks in the business world would be something that she ever envisioned herself doing but she is now looking forward to swimming out of her comfort zone with her team of dolphins-with-an-edge (not sharks) in order to set an example for her children that anything is possible.

Do you think your team can turn $500 into $1,000,000 by July 1st, 2011?
Yes, because my banana bread heightens creative innovation.

What gives your group an advantage over others?
My banana bread combined with Steve’s homemade jam!

Sounded like an awesome idea. A fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the best and brightest in Canada. What really sold me was being able to positively contribute and help the others in the group.

“The whole is greater then the sum of its parts”  Motivation and peer accountability

Do you think your team can turn $500 into $1,000,000 by July 1st 2011?

What gives your group an advantage over others?

  1. Diverse group backgrounds and knowledge

I’ve seen firsthand how a group can solve an issue better than an individual.  The opportunity to apply that same approach to business is development was too good an opportunity to pass up.

What advantages does being a part of a mastermind group offer?
The ‘think tank’ atmosphere that Mastermind encourages enables members to contribute to the success of their peers while developing their own skills and thought processes.
